Dylan 3.5

Somedays I am convinced we were made from the same mold. He has my temperant. He can spend quiet moments alone reading a book or putting a puzzle together. When Hudson and Alexa fight he leaves the room to let them sort it out on their own. He loves all things animal. Has nearly 10 stuffed animals that he must take with him whenever we travel. He is a semi-vegetarian. He is kind and generous and will offer up a dollar from his wallet without thinking about it. He hates when people are hurting and will always give a hug to smooth the pain. He loves his big brother and always thinks about his family first.
And then I take a another look at him and realize that he is entirely his own person. His laugh is contagious. He is observant in a way I cant describe. He is already a ladies man and has told me he doesn't have girlfriends because he wants to be able to look at all the pretty girls. He is amazingly good at legos and building Hotwheel race tracks. He completely thinks he is spiderman. He is cool. And none of these things are a reflection of me.
So I marvel at this boy and then I realize that this is exactly what we want for our children. It is what we pray for. That they are all the best parts of us. And that they have this whole other piece completely their own that we will spend a life time coming to love.
